Visualising Safety: My Illustration Work for the 2026 First Aid Calendars
I recently had the pleasure of collaborating with Pia from Brenniston First Aid on a comprehensive illustration project for their 2026 calendars. This project was unique because it required distinct branding for two different audiences: Brenniston, which focuses on workplace safety, and Student First Aid, which targets schools.
The Challenge: Flexibility and Volume.
The scope of the project was significant, requiring about 20 unique illustrations to cover various medical scenarios. To manage this efficiently, I created the artwork using a flat vector format.
This technical choice was crucial. By building a library of vector assets, I could treat the characters almost like digital puppets—easily adjusting postures, swapping arm and leg positions, and changing facial expressions to fit the context of each medical emergency. This allowed us to maintain a consistent visual style while producing a high volume of detailed scenes.
Accuracy is Key
When illustrating medical advice, there is no room for error. Whether visualising the signs of a concussion or the recovery position for hypoglycaemia, the details had to be precise. Pia and the team ensured that every description and visual cue was double-checked by school nurses and first aid experts to guarantee accuracy.
The Result
The final result includes two vibrant covers—a busy school sports day and a diverse city workplace—along with monthly infographics that make critical first aid information easy to digest at a glance.
If you are looking for high-quality first aid supplies for your office or school, I highly recommend checking out Brenniston and Student First Aid. Keep an eye out for these 2026 calendars!
