Banksia Tree
Banksia woodblock print
This is a woodcut print from an illustration of Banksia seed pods.
Printmaking and linocut printing are some of my favourite mediums to work with. I’m inspired by working with line, texture, and tone and the slow, methodical way of hand carving the block before printing. The printing of the lino block is another art in itself; each print is unique and has a certain character.
About me
I work as a freelance illustrator and graphic artist based in Melbourne, Australia. I work remotely for people around Australia and internationally. I continuously sketch and draw, capturing distinctive places and landmarks and drawing inspiration from the natural surroundings, architecture, and city streets. Sometimes I turn my illustrations into linocut prints. My artwork is available for purchase or can be commissioned for personalised projects.
My Influences
My creative inspirations draw from the rich legacy of Australian printmakers like Margaret Preston and Barbara Hanrahan, the profound influence of Japanese printmaker Un'ichi Hiratsuka, and the Sōsaku-hanga woodblock print movement from the 20th century.
