Jacaranda Hand-Coloured Linocut Print
Jacaranda, linocut print with hand painted colour
This is a linocut print taken from an illustration of a jacaranda tree with flowers. The flowers are hand coloured with gouache, the black ink is soy-based.
A Bit About Me
I’m an Australian freelance illustrator, graphic artist, and linocut printmaker. I’m based in Melbourne, but I work remotely for people around Australia and the world. My illustrations and artwork are available for purchase or can be commissioned for personalised projects.
Influences
I enjoy the intricate interplay of line, texture, and tone within my artwork. Printmaking, with its methodical process, demands countless hours of designing and hand-carving the woodblock before the final printing stage. Each print, a unique entity, possesses its own distinct character, making the printing phase an art form in itself.
My creative inspirations draw from the rich legacy of Australian printmakers like Margaret Preston and Barbara Hanrahan, as well as the profound influence of Japanese printmaker Un'ichi Hiratsuka and the Sōsaku-hanga woodblock print movement from the 20th century.
