New Holland Honey Eaters - Limited Edition Linocut Print

$190.00

The Artwork

This original linocut print captures the iconic New Holland Honeyeater perched among Australian native plants. Known for their striking yellow wing patches and energetic nature, these birds are a favourite in gardens across Melbourne and beyond.

I created this piece to celebrate the intricate interplay of line and texture. By using traditional relief printing techniques, I’ve contrasted the sharp, needle-like leaves of the native flora with the soft, dappled feathers of the honeyeater. The result is a bold, hand-printed work of art that brings the spirit of the Australian bush indoors.

From the Studio

I am a Melbourne-based illustrator and printmaker, and my work is a study of the places and wildlife that define the Australian landscape.

Each limited edition print is the result of a slow, methodical process. I spend countless hours sketching and hand-carving the block before I ever touch the ink. My style is deeply influenced by the "Sōsaku-hanga" (creative print) movement of 20th-century Japan—specifically the work of Un'ichi Hiratsuka—as well as the bold, modernist heritage of Australian legends Margaret Preston and Barbara Hanrahan.
