Illustration for the Pullman Melbourne on the Park, MCG, AAMI Stadium & Rod Laver

I recently finished an illustration commission for Pullman on the Park in Melbourne to depict an aerial view of the Pullman Hotel, MCG, Rod Laver and Aami Park. The goal was to demonstrate the Pullman Hotel's proximity to Melbourne's sporting district.

We decided to go with a hand-drawn and water-colour style illustration after an initial meeting and brief. The final artwork will be printed on hotel food serving trays, and I also created a black line drawing version for kids to colour.

The images must convey a sense of play and humour. The people I drew in the park and other parts of the city helped me achieve this. The artwork features a selfie-taker, a couple sipping champagne on a boat, a busker, a skater, and families out with their kids. I'm hoping that when people look at the artwork they will notice all the small nuances in the illustration.

Working on a project in a hand-drawn manner is always gratifying and enjoyable, and the Pullman crew was a pleasure to work with.
